Rangabali Medical Camp
Description: : Rangabali is one of the remotest disadvantage rural areas of Bangladesh situated in the coastal belt of Bay of Bengal under Patuakhali district. It is a highly disaster prone area. Most often people of this area face severe cyclone, tornado and other natural calamities.
In Rangabali union, there is no maternity service available and neonatal mortality rate is high. If habitant’s suffer from diseases or injuries, they have to go to a medical centre 40 km away.
In considering the health situation in Rangabali and as there is no primary medical service available, SCI Bangladesh & SCI Japan in cooperation from Rotary Club of MEIEKI Japan, Rotary Club of KIANSENG Taiwan build a medical center for Mother & Child Care Center in Rangabali and organizing medical camp regular basis.
Type of Work: Volunteers will assist doctors to advice patients and distribute medicine during the medical camp and after the camp volunteers will plant Environment friendly trees, earth filling and level ground of SCI Bangladesh newly build Mother & Child Care Center, earth work at Medical Center premises, fencing the campus boundary and make the entrance to the building.
Study Theme: Discussions on public health, Peace issues, Hygiene behavior, environment & pollution. Volunteers will have the chance to learn from one another's culture.
Accommodation: Volunteers will stay at SCI campus (Tin shed house). They will share common bathroom and toilet. Volunteers will be given simple vegetarian/Non-vegetarian food, to cook and manage themselves.
Language: English should be spoken among participants. Local language is Bengali
Requirements: Working shoes, Gloves, Working dress, Sleeping bag, Insect repellent, toiletries & good humor.
