Leírás: It is believed that the world’s population recently passed more than 7 billion people. In Tanzania, Africa as well around the world many people still barely meet anyone outside of a small circle of family, friends and community while even more never venture beyond the culture in which they were raised. The intercultural experience project is aiming to serve as an important means of introducing people around the world to realities they might not normally be exposed to. Many barriers have begun to fall between people around the world, with near-instantaneous communication allowing people on opposite sides of the world to meaningfully interact. Intercultural exposure project encourage people to appreciate and understand distinct cultures and play a key role in creating productive dialogues.
Munka típusa The project will involve most of the cultural aspects to enable participants to describe people’s economic, family and community life, sports, foods or arts. The focus is on PEOPLE and what they do in a given place or time. Some interesting activities like weaving mats and baskets, henna painting, hair dreading, cooking, tie dye and batik painting, Swahili classes, dancing, singing and drumming classes will be organized. Be prepared as well to participate in painting of children’s’ class rooms, working with children at the local school, and Youth cultural groups in the community.
Képzés: Discussions, debates, cultural performances, theatre performance, and round table discussions on cultural issues will be organized involving participants of the project, community members/visited places and schools. The major topic will be Intercultural experience. Please bring information from your home community including past positive and even negative experience on intercultural for sharing and learning.
Szállás: Participants will be accommodated in the communal house located in the host community. Clean water and electricity will be available. Pay attention on the information sheet for things to bring with you.
Nyelv: The official languages of this project are English and Kiswahili. You do not have to be fluent.
Elvárások: No special or particular expertise/skills required; however a potential Participant for this project should be open minded, flexible, interested in culture and meeting people from other cultures.
Közlekedési csomópont a közelben: Kibele is a village with a very small population in Central Part of Zanzibar. It is located about 15km from stone town and the place can be accessible by both public and private transport. It is a rural community close to the state University of Zanzibar, Tunguu and Kigongoni communities. Its isolation from the city makes it very quiet, relaxing and people can enjoy ever green coconut plantations.
