Environmental conservasion, Mangrove trees Planting, Teaching Foreign Languages and learning local culture in ZANZIBAR ISLANDS.
Leírás: Forest makes an important contribution to the environmental quality. Besides creating a renewable raw material, they can help to control soil erosion, flooding and avalanches, help to balance the earth’s atmosphere by carbon sequestration, improve the landscape, support variety of flora and fauna, and offer opportunities for leisure and recreation. The mangrove forests along south-west coast of Zanzibar island have been affected so much by human activities, including waste dumping, poor fishing methods, bush fire, cutting wood for domestic energy, construction and business. The impact of these practices has been very visible which includes increasing of water level, disappearing of various important tree species, change of seasons, draught, changing of fresh water to salt water etc.
Munka típusa Among many activities, the volunteers will be involved in: • Raising awareness on environmental issues • Collecting mangrove seeds • Tree planting (depending on the weather) • Learning local culture. In the afternoon, volunteers will participate in various foreign languages classes that expected to empower local youth and women to carry on economic activities, hence improving their standard of living when they have foreign language skills.

Szállás: Volunteers will be accommodated in a local residential house in the community or volunteer house or host family
Nyelv: English is the official work camp language but the volunteers have the opportunity to learn Kiswahili that is the national language in Zanzibar - Tanzania and other African countries.

Közlekedési csomópont a közelben: The international volunteer project takes place in South West cost, an old Swahili town in Urban West Region in the Western part of Zanzibar, Tanzania along the Indian Ocean(Maungani and Kombeni).
Megjegyzések: Ferry Travel from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar If you arrive in Dar es Salaam you may book ferry ticket via the website of Azammarine company from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. Ferrying is considered the most convenient way to travel to Zanzibar especially for those with a tight travel budget. Zanzibar is part of the Union (United Republic of Tanzania) and it maintains its own immigration service. So please, carry your passport with you when coming to Zanzibar. During the weekends, the volunteers can visit various places in Zanzibar. We could also organize a group visit. Some possible activities are: Safari blue (swimming, snorkeling, seafood lunch, sports at sand banks), Beach & Nature trip (visiting Jozani Forest, Spice tour, swimming with dolphins) and Stone town tour.
