Recovering the natural environment in Vilanova i la Geltrú
Description: The aim of the project is to develop the natural environment of Vilanova i la Geltrú and to promote heritage and culture to the local community and to international volunteers. The core values of the project are cooperation, sustainability, ecology and responsability.
Type of Work: Recovery of dry stone walls, remove invasive plants, conservation and repair of architectural elements, make the inventory of the path, habilitation and signage of the path, information and promotion tasks.
Study Theme: Study of flora and Garraf ecosystem, cowpaths, dry stone walls, agroecological techniques, archaeological heritage. Several educational and cultural activities will be held.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a big building, with 5 rooms and access to a kitchen, bathrooms and training rooms. There is also a garden with four terraces. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Volunteers will be provided healthy food (preferably local and ecological), and will organize cooking amongst themselves. Vegetarians and vegans are very welcome!
Language: Spanish and Catalan are recommended but not required
Requirements: Motivation letter required. Enthusiasm for conservation and the outdoors preferable

Notes: Volunteers will be involved on the local culture, so there are several activities planned: cultural tours, visits to natural sites, participation on village festivals, intercultural meals with the residents, etc.
Yes, it is close to Barcelona, but please don't apply if it only makes you think about sangria, beach and discoballs! Volunteering is a serious commitment and it needs to be taken as such.
