iMAGIne: Festival for Freedom of Expression
Description: The iMAGInada is a self-sustaining festival promoted by a cultural association formed by young people with a concern: to offer an alternative to the current economic, social and cultural model through the creation of spaces for exchange, empowerment, participation, dynamic and self-sustainability in the framework of the annual festivities of the city.
For four days, the iMAGInada is a community initiative that offers cultural and artistic programming. It becomes a critical and creative space around: the dissemination of artists and local associative movements, exchange of knowledge, social inclusion, reflection and individual growth, intercultural contact and recreation conscious.

Type of Work: Volunteers will help in tasks related to preparations and logistics for the festival: assembling and dismantling of the spaces and infraestructure, setting of space, activities for the children, preparing the social activities (such as forums, world dinners, etc), supporting the kitchen and the bar of the festival and other tasks helping the organization.
Study Theme: The philosophy of the project is to defend freedom of expression, alternative methods, social change and community initiatives. These values will be the study of the project. In addition, inside the festival there is a forum area where everyone will discuss various current conflicts such as refugees, and a meeting space of associations and local movements.
Accommodation: The accommodation will be in a local school with one community room to sleep, one room designated for cooking and bathrooms with showers. Please, bring your sleeping bag and mat to sleep on! Regarding meals, they will be prepared together in the kitchen and during the days of the festival they will be in the space of the project with the local volunteers.
Language: Spanish and Catalan are not required but really recommended especially for the tasks that needs interaction with the public
Requirements: It would be preferable to have volunteers with experience in social projects and a lot of motivation to work as a team.
Approximate Location: Village south of Barcelona. Yes, it is close to Barcelona, but please don't apply if it only makes you think about sangria and discoballs! Volunteering is a serious commitment and it needs to be taken as such.
