Help GREFA to take care of the animals
Description: GREFA is an NGO created in 1981 for the the study and conservation of nature. In GREFA we carry on different and complementary activities: animal recovery, and research; preservation of species, community education and awareness raising campaigns. The Wild Fauna Recovery Centre is the main focus of the organization. From its beginnings, it has given veterinary assistance to more than 40,000 wild animals, hosting every year around 4000 animals. The Wild Fauna Recovery Centre provides the necessary care to all the animals admitted to -later- release them back into their habitat: the nature. It also organises trainings and environmental education activities for peolple of all ages.
Type of Work: - Setting the space for environmental education, called "Living Nature". - Cleaning and setting facilities for breading species like the lesser kestrel, the golden eagle, Bonelli's eagle, the black vulture, etc. -Construction of bird's nest - Routine Sanitary Control of the adult included in the breeding program - Ponds preparation for tortoises in a natural park of Madrid. - Construction and owl nest boxes for kestrels. - Helping in the animal hospital activities.
Study Theme: Environmental and wild life protection
Accommodation: At the centre, in one dorm for men and women (mixed room), furnished with bunk beds. There is 1 (one) shower for each gender. You will have Internet access.
Language: English is the main language of the camp but a slight level of spanish is desirable.
Requirements: A motivational letter, in english, is required.
Approximate Location: The workcamp will be in the City of Majadahonda wich is 30 km away from Madrid.
Notes: During this period all the volunteers could also organised and take part into extra cultural activities (supported by the volunteer), such as courses, conferences, presentations and visits to places of interest (Toledo, Madrid, Segovia).
