Help to build an eco-hut for the french-indian village
Description: The purpose of "Peupl'en Harmonie" is to bring together Guyanese from different cultures and with different lifestyles (rural and urban) and European youth from different countries around a common project with an exchange and sharing of collective life and the inhabitants of a small rural village. There will be a team of 15 in this workcamp : - 5 young Amerindians from the Village Favard - 5 young urban of the island of Cayenne or Kourou - 5 from France or other International countries
Type of Work: The purpose of this project is therefore to build a closed hut for the exhibition and sale of traditional crafts to tourists in the village. The workcamp will be to build the hut in the following steps: - Construction of a concrete slab - Installation of structural columns and framing - Braiding palm leaves and making the leaf roof - Construction walls gaulette (making and braiding gaulette slats)
Study Theme: The other objective through this project is the sharing between young people and the villagers. Indeed, the 15 young people will share their daily life for 15 days, between them and the villagers of Favard (especially with five host families) and so get to know and live a strong experience of multiculturalism. An exchange time on the theme of sustainable development and on the issue of "waste" in the village is also planned as part of these exchanges.
Accommodation: Accommodation for young volunteers and supervisors will be in hammock. Hammocks will be installed, partly in the school classroom and to the other part under the traditional hut (located right school side). The sanitary of the school will be made available to the group; They have 2 adult toilet and shower (for those who do not want to wash in the river).
Language: English will be spoken among the volunteers
Requirements: To be ready to discover a very traditional way of life in the jungle of Guyana !
Approximate Location: Favard Village, located on the river Oyack, twenty minutes on canoe from the town of Roura
