Description: In this camp, volunteers will have a chance to visit different places in Vietnam and interact with children and youths from different social backgrounds so that they can have a more comprehensive view on the current education system in developing counties.

Almost the children in the campsite, especially in Vinh Long province have less opportunities to study English as well as meet people from different countries. Even though just a short time, however, through this camp, we hope to bring a new world to the kids, enrich their knowledge about different cultures and empower them to understand the importance of education.

Organization Description: STEP Forward Exchange is a youth led group supported by SCI Hong Kong that focus on providing a platform for socially and economically disadvantaged families in rural areas of the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam; to improve their livelihood, in particular women and children who are likely to or already living in poverty- stricken circumstances. This will be achieved through the provision or reparation of housing, support in building, reparation of classroom as well as scholarship programs. STEP also emphasis on developing cultural awareness and exchange between local community and international volunteers through international volunteer program. Our projects focus on 3 key areas: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT  Improve the lives of impoverished families in rural areas through construction and reparation of housing. This will be aided by workcamp programs encouraging international and local volunteers to fundraise and take an active role working on individual projects.  Encourage educational and economic development in the local area through the provision of scholarships for children and microfinance funding for family business. CULTURAL EXCHANGE  Encourage cultural awareness and understanding between local and international communities.  Provide a platform for people from different countries to learn about diverse cultures and customs through collective goal. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Through experiential learning volunteers learn:    Additional skill: construction, cooking, teaching, group living, communication, teamwork, travel skill To expose themselves to the tradition of the local community as well as culture of other volunteers. Learn to respect and appreciate other culture, diversity and build peace. To develop their existing talents and explore their potential.
