Description: Hostalric is a village in Catalonia with around 4000 residents. This work camp was held in 2015 and it was a success. It was also in 2016 and so it will happen again in 2017 aiming at the research, dissemination, preservation of the natural and historic heritage; intercultural exchange between the volunteers and villagers; creating awareness for local residents and neighbours about how important it is to value cultural heritage and also get to know volunteers from all over the world.

Type of Work: The volunteers will work on the cleaning up of a castle: two rooms, a little water cistern and an exploratory drilling sample.

Study Theme: Volunteers will get to know the local history and the territory through film projections, artistic and cultural activities, debates and reflections.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in bunkbeds in the gymnasium of the local high-school, where they will have access to 10 showers (5 per men and 5 per women) and regular toilets. They will also dispose of a kitchen, a big garden, a basketball field, a football field, within many other spaces.

Language: English, Spanish, Catalan

Requirements: Bed sheets, pillow sheets and bathroom towels. Extra information will be send once registered.

Approximate Location: Village northeast of Barcelona.

Yes, it is close to Barcelona, but please don't apply if it only makes you think about sangria and discoballs! Volunteering is a serious commitment and it needs to be taken as such.

Notes: To deepen the contact between the volunteers and the territory, they will also participate on several activities of the village summer festival, a local food workshop and tours around the area.
