Rome International Soup Festival
Description: “La Città dell'Utopia” (The City of Utopia) is an SCI Italy project located in San Paolo district, Rome. The project is an experiment in creating active citizenship and local development. Different events, initiatives, courses and laboratories use to take place here, concerning three main topics: interculturality, sustainable lifestyle, active citizenship. The “Soup Phenomenon” occurred in Lille in 2001 and successfully propagated all over Europe. It appeared in Bologna in 2004. Since 10 years, the Festival in Rome tries to create a joyful moment through a rich plate, popular and recognizable around the world. The Festival participants compete for the “Golden Ladle”. Type of Work: The activities that will be carried out during the camp will include the support in space preparation and the thematic development of the festival.
Basic activities: - support to the construction of scenography; - the preparation of spaces; - support to the promotion of the festival; - awareness actions on separate collection and recycling of garbage during the festival; - re-arrangement of the place at the end of the Festival.
Study Theme: The study part aims at the ideation and organization of some actions to be run during the Festival.
First phase of the study part: exchange of information and issues connected to garbage recycling and original modalities to create awareness among local citizens.
Second phase of the study part: workshops on a social topic that will be disclosed in the infosheet.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be hosted in the social hostel of Casale Garibaldi, in the venue "La Città dell' Utopia". They will sleep in common (female/male) rooms. Beds, mattresses, sheets and blankets will be provided. The bathroom will be on the same floor and shared by all the volunteers.
Language: During the camp many other languages will be spoken, such as Ukrainian, Serbian-Croatian, Greek, Italian and Russian.
Requirements: Group working skills; interest in organizing events; manual and artistic skills.
Approximate Location: Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino Airport, Termini railways station, Tiburtina railways station in Rome.
