Description: Through Education and Environmental Awareness, we understand all activities aiming to make discover and understand the natural environment and its problems, be it animations and / or pedagogical tools that the actors lead and develop with the public, but also with local socioprofessionals and decision-makers, with the aim of raising awareness about the preservation of the natural environment, but also about human issues. During the three weeks of work, volunteers will work first on the pedagogical aspects of the project, secondly on the concrete actions to be carried out in the field and finally the presentation and dissemination of the work carried out throughout the three weeks of reflection , exchanges and actions.
Type of Work: In small groups, volunteers will exchange and share their knowledge on environmental sustainability and environmental education. - Presentation of the pedagogical tools on a sustainable environment. - Analyze, improve or create other tools according to the requirements of the environment. (To find reference themes on the protection of the environment: the management of plastic waste, the harmful effects of bush fires, the importance of reforestation etc.) - Organize animations using existing and established pedagogical tools. - Sensitization of proximity in the village on the defined themes. Finally, the volunteers will reforest with the local population a space to mark their stay.
Study Theme: Sustainability
Accommodation: Housing conditions are generally rudimentary. You will be lodged near the site of the camp. The whole group will be housed in the same house, the rooms will be shared, provide small inflatable mattresses or a small floor mat (no bed), sleeping bag, mosquito net ... The kitchen will be organized by the volunteers. Drinking water available.
Language: French is the official language in Togo, but in the southern part of the country the most spoken language is Éwé. French can be considered as the language relegated to a role essentially administrative. NB: The workcamp’s languages will be French and English.
Requirements: The ASTOVOT workcamps are open to everybody, no matter the volunteers’ nationality. The minimum required age is 18. No particular skill is required, being motivated about the activities and being able of maintaining a decent moral behaviour is enough.
Approximate Location: Kpalimé: Kpalime is a lovely city surrounded by hills, 120 Km from the capital Lomé in the south west of Togo. Known for its mild climate, its amazing landscapes and a large variety of tropical fruits, it is a moving city welcoming different peoples from all over the country and many tourists during summertime.
