Holidays out of town
Description: The camp is organized by the Polistovsky National Nature Reserve which is situated in the northwest of Russia, in Pskov region. It was established in 1994 and it preserves the biggest bog system in Europe. The Reserve works a lot with ecological education for children: there are ecological expeditions, summer schools and different workshops organized for local kids.
Type of Work: Volunteers will work mainly with kids in the field of non-formal ecological education. They will also help the local community with some renovation work (renovation of playground, cleaning the lakeside), apple harvesting, and conducting intercultural workshops and events.
Study Theme: Volunteers will have a chance to know more about the biggest bog system in Europe and will try themselves as ecological educators for children.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a comfortable guest house of the Reserve. Washing machine and bathrooms are available in the same building. There is an equipped kitchen with a stove, fridge and water. WIFI is also available.
Language: Any level of Russian is welcome
Requirements: Participants should be motivated to work with children and be able to entertain them. Creativity and any artistic skills will be very welcome.
Approximate Location: Tsevlo village. It is a really small village, situated 200 km away from Pskov and 300 km (which is not far for Russia :) from Novgorod the Great. Both Pskov and Novgorod are ancient Russian cities that are definitely worth visiting. Volunteers will be picked up at the stations “Velikiye Luki” or “Sushchevo”. (to get there, they should take a train from Moscow or St.Petersburg)
Notes: During free time volunteers will be taken to a guided tour around the Reserve. There is also a possibility to play sport games, enjoy the time at the fire place and watch ecological movies. Volunteers will also have a chance to explore local handicrafts.
