World Heritage workcamp in the ruins of Chellah - Rabat
Description: This workcamp will take place in the medieval fortified necropolis of Chellah, a fascinating archeological site outside of Rabat. It'll be organized by CSM (Chantiers Sociaux Marocains) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the aim of promoting World Heritage as well as international and intercultural voluntary experiences with the local community.
Type of Work: The volunteers will help in the maintenance (cleaning and collecting waste, preparing the site for the visitors, gardening activities, painting) and preservation (inventorying and monitoring natural and cultural resources of the ruins : plants, animals and archeological sites) of the historical site. The volunteers can also get involved in many other activities as they will be in contact with the local people and will be able to get know the Moroccan habits and way of life. A campleader will propose activities during their spare time.
Study Theme: World Heritage and preservation/protection of cultural and historical sites in the Maghreb area
Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted in an apartment situated in the centre of Rabat (about 20 minutes walking distance from Chellah) equiped with a kitchen, Wifi, 2 computers and a big terrace. There will be two big bedrooms (boys and girls separate) furnished with sleeping mats but the volunteers will have to bring their sleeping bag. They will also cook for themselves.
Language: English is the main language of the workcamp. Knowledge of french and arabic can be useful.
Requirements: No special skills required to participate in this workcamp. The volunteers should be motivated, enthusiastic, positive and respectful.
