Ballybay Camphill Community
Description: Camphill Ballybay (www.camphill.ie) is one of 60 Camphill communities around the world and one of 17 in Ireland offering people with intellectual disabilities a sheltered environment in which their educational, therapeutic and social needs can be met. The community has a small farm, a weavery, a candle-making workshop and a garden with glasshouse and plastic tunnels. The farm and vegetable garden are run along organic/ bio-dynamic lines.
Type of Work: Picking fruit and general gardening work. The main task will be helping to care for the gardens and picking berries for use by the community throughout the year. There may also be some general manual work around the farm.
Study Theme: Camphill philosophy and life in the community
Accommodation: Bunk-beds in a small house. Volunteers will cook for themselves in their own kitchen. The volunteers don't need sleeping bags - we will provide bedding. WiFi is not available in the house where the volunteers will stay - however there is WiFi reception in the tearoom within the community next to the office.
Notes: Strict Child and Vulnerable Adults Protection procedures are in place for this project. Police Check and references are required. Please send your application first and we will contact you with further information. These procedures take time (about 3 weeks) and volunteers are encouraged to apply well in advance of the project start date.
