Arsprototo Music (Berlin)
Description: ARSPROTOTO Music is the second part of the ARSPROTOTO series. It facilitates the combination of art, education and international peace work. The goal is to connect young musicians, who then form a band and perform a benefit-concert. SCI’s work will also be presented there. Thereby we want to achieve closer organisation networks and sustainability of individual activism. During the first week, community building and forming of the band will take place so that the practice can start. Country evenings and debates will be also be organised. The second week’s subject is „international peace work“. There will be training on self-organisation of peace work and a „leadership-free“ workshop. At the end, the results will be presented during a self organized concert
Type of Work: The first part of the camp is the formation of the band and creation of a half-hour program including music, SCI work and performance. Through this, international peace work can be shown in an alternative way and reach further.
Study Theme: The second part of the camp is a seminar on self-organisation of peace work, focusing on methods of music education. Lastly, training of competences should give the participants the possibility to develop their own projects and realise them in a sustainable way.
Accommodation: Jugenddorf „Müggelsee“, Bungalows at the beautiful Müggelsee in Berlin Köpenick. You can find more information about hostel here
Requirements: The symbiosis of personal musical interest and political motivation would be an advantage.
Approximate Location: Berlin
Notes: Leadership- free Workshop: Leadership- free is an alternative way of leading international meetings. The basic idea is that the campleaders step back and the group as such is informed of all regulations and options, so that they can find their own way to organise themselves. For doing so a daily meeting is required and the camp leaders act as mediators, specifically for those participants who find it hard to present their ideas or suggestions in front of the group. This method is still under construction/ development and was tested successfully during ARSPROTOTO in 2016. A workshop should examine the method according to its problems, benefits and downsides for enabling the transfer from theory to practice. The deadline for submitting applications is 15.05.2017.
