Rikuzen-takata 2 (Iwate)
Description: This work camp has been organized together with some local groups and HSBC since 2013. A giant earthquake occurred in Tohoku in 2011 Mar. that caused unprecedented damage. NICE has been organizing the special workcamps there to revive the disaster areas. Since 2013, we have a special program for 40 high school students to provide the volunteer and on-the-ground business experience at the post-disaster area. Our objectives is A) Growing friendship, mutual understanding and solidarity among youth, B) Fostering global point of views and intercultural learning among youth and C) Supporting the revival from the disaster in Tohoku.
Type of Work: Youth will get the opportunity to have a business experience in the camp. They will visit local business actually exist in Rikuzentakata. They will make a PR document in English and Japanese for the online sales. Volunteers will help out and live together with 40 Youth (15-18 years) in the camp supporting activities and sharing your business experience.
Study Theme: Disaster area visit and getting know the disaster damage prevention
Accommodation: 1. Local Temple house. Simple self-catering. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. Share room. 2. Local Hotel. Simple self-catering. Foods are all provided.
Language: English (Japanese is also welcomed!)
Requirements: Your business experiences and skills are required. Analysis, Coaching, Computer and Marketing etc. The Motivation letter is required!!
Approximate Location: South east edge of Iwate prefecture (very near from Miyagi). Forestry, agriculture and fishing are used to be the main industry, but were severely damaged and may take several years to be rehabilitated. From Tokyo, 7 hours by bullet train or 10 hours by bus.
