Permaculture Forest Garden
Description: This is the second year VWAN is offering workcamp at the Permaculture Forest Garden project. The project was established in 2011 by local and international activists, the emphasis is to apply permaculture principles in reforesting the surrounding area, contribute to sustainable development and disseminate environmental education to the public.
Type of Work: The volunteers will be helping with gardening work, reconstructing one of the facilities in the project center using bio-construction methods with local materials. Volunteers will conduct series of awareness raising activities and workshops with young children of Ilaje - a local fishing community . Volunteers will support the local group to organize a world climate simulation exercise: which will be held to raise awareness about the interconnectedness of carbon emission trends, global power dynamics, and what it takes to prevent a catastrophic climate change. Volunteers will receive relevant training to support the activity.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated on the project site in a basic and shared accommodation. We recommend bringing your sleeping bag. No running showers but water is adequately supplied. Volunteers should be ready to use compost toilet. There is no WiFi and electrical supply from the grid but there is solar electricity to recharge portable devices. Language: English is generally spoken and understood, the local languages in Badagry are Egun and Yoruba
