Horses and social inclusion near Rome
Description: The associations Ciampacavallo O.N.L.U.S. And EquiAzione join together to organise rehabilitation activities, sport and ludic practice for disabled people, and for people with mental, relational or social disorder. Every single activity is inclusive, that is, planned and realized together with staff and users. Together, they organize services for every person who wants to approach horses in a different way, different from sport or traditional equestrian center. This way of working, purely non assistential, allows to create an authentic relational frame. With this camp we will work at the settling up of a new place in the south of Rome, with the aim of wellcoming more people and offer to them the opportunity to develop a relationship with horses in an exciting setting of nature and history.
Type of Work: In the camp, there will always be disabled people, children, social workers, volunteers, fellowship and horse passionates. All the activities will be organized in mixed group made by volunteers and other users. Daily activities will be: feeding and cleaning horses, kitchen, shopping in near farms, cleaning of the house. In the first period of the camp we will settle up the camp and prepare garden and vineyard (plowing, enclosure). During the second period we will prepare the sowing and we will clean the part of the home not renewed yet.
Study Theme: During the whole period of the camp we will organise different study moments about local plants and animals, about the history of the human presence on the territory, about the traditional way of use horse. We will organise worshops on different traditional works with old local people: cheese making, leather working, mantenance of saddle, agriculture.
Accommodation: The volunteers will sleep in a tent, inside the structure that is hosting the camp. The tents can be either brought by the volunteers or provided by the organisation on request. Three bathrooms are available for all the guests of the camp. There are two kitchens (one inside and one outside) to cook the meals.
Language: A basic level of Italian is appreciated, as it facilitates the integration between volunteers and users of the camp.
Requirements: Adaptability, team working, punctuality, flexibility and tolerance. Will be preferred working with animals (horse) attitude, manual skills and adaptability in a context of scarce privacy. We remind that the camp includes working with disabled people in every activity. Location of the camp will be isolated in nature 10 km far from the nearest town.
Approximate Location: The camp will be settled up in the south of Rome, in a place called Pratoni del Vivaro, 30km far from Rome, in direction of Velletri\Roman Castle. The camp will be located at 580mt upon sea level, the nearest towns are Rocca di Papa and Rocca Priora 10km far. It is possible to reach Rome by bus in 1,30 h
Notes: Every guest must bring: tent, sleeping bag, waterproof jacket, trekking clothing, trekking shoes, mosquito repellent. We don't have WiFi connection at the camp, the climate is fresh and variable during summer.
