Description: This workcamp is organized by Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID) which is a civil society organization working to promote intercultural acceptance and active citizenship through capacity building processes, education and youth work.
It is part of the Volunteer Path project. The aim of this project is to work towards the strategic objectives of the White Paper and to promote the work of organisations that nurture the spirit of international volunteering and non-formal education, whilst valorising local customs and the diversity of these. The world is under an increasing threat from globalisation and extremism; these two factors contribute to the breaking down of cultural norms, traditions and the destruction and loss of heritage sites.
Type of Work: Kokino is a Bronze Age archaeological site in the Republic of Macedonia. It contains a megalithic observatory and sacred site.
The aim of this workcamp will be to make this area more suitable and pleasant for the mountaineers, nature lovers and admires of natural heritage in order to provide them chance to explore better the country and to make the road to one of the world's oldest observatories more approachable and pleasant to walk on.
Volunteers will be working on flattening of the surfaces/the road, restaurating and marking of the road, the walking and the bicycle paths, making benches and improvized showers.
Study Theme: Skills that volunteer will have a chance to gain: linguistic skills by communication; survival skills; knowledge about a not so explored country/region; how to create things out of scratch.
Accommodation: Bring your own sleeping bags.
Approximate Location: village Kokino, near Kumanovo, Macedonia
