Purpose of extra costs:
The extra cost is used for accommodation, work related - transportation, foods, materials, project site's supports and support for the host organization.
Description: We will work with two projects site : Phu Nhuan and Point Sport Phan Huy Ich shelter. These children are come from poor family, however they are very lovely and pure. Since in Phu Nhuan shelter, the kids is making handmade keychain to sell in order to earn for the living, therefore we will help them to create more products as well as at the same time, will teach them other handmade items that can be useful for daily life. Aside from that, we also can teach these children about cultures or soft skills as a way to create more joyful week for them.

Accommodation: We will live together in STEP House (basic conditions). There is also a small kitchen whereas volunteers will take turn to cook.
There is also wifi (but quite slow)
Laundry facilities / toilet and shower/ mosquito nets / sleeping bag needed
Pillow and thin mattress, blanket are provided. Bring your own sleeping bag if you are used to thick mattress. Bring your toiletry.
Notes: We will divide into team and cook for ourselves everyday.
There is a small market nearby (5mins) as well as a supermarket (15mins walking) . There are all kinds of tropical food: vegetable, rice, pork, beef, chicken, salt, sugar, fish sauce, and tropical fruits. It is difficult to find Western ingredient such as cheese, dairy products, spaghettis, cold weather vegetable and fruits. Feel free to bring ingredient from your country for sharing and introducing your traditional cuisine.
The free day is by the end of our working week, on 23th August for sight-seeing in Ho Chi Minh City (Volunteers will bare for their own foods in the free day)
Organization Description: STEP Forward Exchange is a youth led group supported by SCI Hong Kong that focus on providing a platform for socially and economically disadvantaged families in rural areas of the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam; to improve their livelihood, in particular women and children who are likely to or already living in poverty- stricken circumstances. This will be achieved through the provision or reparation of housing, support in building, reparation of classroom as well as scholarship programs. STEP also emphasis on developing cultural awareness and exchange between local community and international volunteers through international volunteer program.
Our projects focus on 3 key areas: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Improve the lives of impoverished families in rural areas through construction and reparation of housing. This will be aided by workcamp programs encouraging international and local volunteers to fundraise and take an active role working on individual projects.
Encourage educational and economic development in the local area through the provision of scholarships for children and microfinance funding for family business.
Encourage cultural awareness and understanding between local and international communities.
Provide a platform for people from different countries to learn about diverse cultures and
