The Ecology Centre Summer Festival
Description: The Ecology Centre is looking for volunteers to help develop and deliver a summer festival and a related programme of events celebrating our 20th anniversary as an environmental charity that inspires positive change through directly connecting people and the natural environment for the benefit of both.
Type of Work: Among many activities, volunteers will be given the opportunity to: undertake conservation work to maintain and develop the beautiful lands on the bank of Kinghorn Loch; grow and harvest food in the community garden and orchard; refurbish and upcycle tools and machinery in the tool shed; prepare and cook community-grown food for volunteer lunches; support professional staff in office roles; undertake specific project work.
Study Theme: Induction will be provided about The Ecology Centre, the building, site facilities.
Accommodation: Camping pitches provided in private grounds; car park available for campervans.
Volunteers must provide their own food! Volunteers will be provided a cooked meal lunchtime on Wednesdays. Full kitchen facilities provided for self-catering. The nearest town is a 10 min walk along an established footpath from The Ecology Centre and has a small Co-op supermarket, a butcher, a bakery, and a couple of cafés and pubs.
Toilets and shower provided; no onsite laundry available. Laundry service or self-laundry service available nearby.
Requirements: Motivation Letter
Interested in, motivated by and passionate about environmental issues and the natural world, able to work with children, young people and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities. Flexible, creative, open-minded and the ability to take the initiative where appropriate, consult when necessary and meet challenging deadlines.
Approximate Location: The Ecology Centre is based in Fife, Scotland.
Notes: Internet/computer access: Free Wi-Fi and access to office PCs if required.
Hours will be flexible depending on work needs, but typically between 9 am and 4 pm during weekdays. Weekends are typically free but may require some work when required.
