Let's rebuild the old Chapel Saint-Barthélémy
Description: In the 50s, SCI Volunteers helped the village of Ceillac to rebuild after important floods. The inhabitants still remembers those days. In 2018, SCI is back in Ceillac! The old chapel "Saint-Barthélemy", created in 1632, was destroyed by an avalanche in 1972, now the village wants it back. Saint-Barthélémy is the patron of the village and the chapel is really dear to the local people.
Type of Work: The volunteers will rebuild the wood structure of the chapel. They will also create a concrete slab to put the new chapel on, and to have an access to the site. They will be lead by a carpenter and a mason from the village.
Study Theme: The volunteers will be able to learn about the history of the village and the region. They will discover traditional life of small french villages.
Accommodation: In a big studio in the village, in dormitories. They will be one bathroom and one toilet for the all group. Volunteers will take their meal in a restaurant in the village.
Language: English will be spoken with the people in charge of the camp. French might be good to speak with the locals.
Requirements: You should bring sleeping bag and pillow. Bring songs and dances from your country, your musical instrument, your games and your good mood! Don't forget your hiking shoes and your swimsuit!
Approximate Location: Hameau du Thioure - Commune de Ceillac. South-East of France.
Notes: ATTENTION ! For volunteers coming from non-SCI partners, there will be an extra fee of 20€ to be paid on arrival. Please ask your sending organization if you are in that case.
