United in MAI'tallurgie Festival!
Description: « MAI’tallurgie », a wordgame that fuses the French words Mai (May) and métallurgie (metallurgy) and emphasises the industrial landscape of Charleroi. Metallurgy is a festival organised by the citizens of the city, which puts forwards social, cultural, and artistic events for a week. Aware of the unappealing reputation of their home and the whirlpool of helplessness into which the youth of the place is sinking, a group of residents have decided to bring the city back to light by embracing and promoting their common heritage : Marchienne , one of the richest communities of Belgium at the beginninng of the Industrial Revolution and later victim of the financial crisis, wants to work towards a brighter future.
Type of Work: The group of volunteers will be involved in the different activities that will take place every day, either helping with logistics (stage building--) or more creative tasks. The performances will be carried out by locals (schools, local companies), as well as professionals.
