FoRIVER – Volunteers for Patrimony
Description: The main goal of the workcamp is to promote awareness about the importance of cooperation and volunteering activities for natural and cultural heritage dissemination. As more specific goals it is pretended to contribute to preserve cultural and natural heritage of Montemor-o-Novo, by creating trails along Almansor River in order to access watermills that can be found in the river margins.
Type of Work: Promote / develop several skills in the participants that will enable them to create trails that allow the visitation of built heritage. To accomplish this goals participants will engage in several tasks: designing, cleaning and marking trails; cleaning of the surroundings of the watermills; designing a tourist information map in several languages; cleaning of river margins; cutting invasive vegetable species and others, rebuilt corridors, activities related to preparation of autochthones and medicinal plants.
Accommodation: Breakfast and afternoon tea will be provided on the basis of regular products (e.g. milk, bread, tea, fruit,..) Hot meals will be served on school facilities at lunch and dinner. If Known, possibility for vegetarian dishes will be available
Requirements: Respect for each other, will to participate in joint activities, no smoking indoors, no drinking of alcoholic beverages while working, respect for general rules that will be delivered upon arrival on a welcome meeting.
Approximate Location: Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal Montemor-o-novo, is a municipality in the district of Évora in the middle of the Alentejo, region of Portugal. Is located 100 km from Lisbon (the capital of Portugal) and from the coastline, where we can find beautiful beaches. Montemor-o-Novo, is also located 30 km from an UNESCO World Heritage City (Évora).This town is quiet and peaceful, is a great place to enjoy the rural landscapes good food.Is a city of very old origin, interesting for the patrimonial wealth.
