Strengthening international solidarity
Description: PSCC and Alshmoh Centre are community based organizations formed by nonviolent activists. PSCC is an umbrella of the popular committees against the segregation Wall, while Alshmoh is a cultural center organize cultural activities. The workcamp is aiming at strengthening international solidarity with Palestinians through nonviolent activities and advocacy by implementing cultural, peace and agricultural activities, and working with children. The workcamp in the AL-Ma’sara village is a great occasion for international volunteers to experience with local farmers, youth in the villages. The importance of the workcamp is the change it bring to the locals and to the volunteers towards strengthening the culture of nonviolence and building peace to end the conflict.
Type of Work: International Volunteers will be with Palestinians to work with children in a summer camp which will include 100 child. The activities will include cultural, sport, music and folklore dancing. Volunteers will exchange their experience with the Palestinians through joint activities with the children. Moreover, there will be other tours in different areas to discover and witness human right violation. In addition there will be evening activities about peace and the history of nonviolent activities in the village. volunteers will be choosing different documentaries to present. There will be debate event about the situation and how to see the future in a better way.
Study Theme: Our workcamp is based on sharing experiences and building bridges between Palestinians and international volunteers based on solidarity and common values, therefore, we expect to have crucial events at the end of the summer camp where we will show the community our outcomes at the end of the workcamp.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in the international guest house in Al-Masara village to the south of Bethlehem. The participants will sleep in bed or mattresses on the floor. Volunteers will share the duties of preparing foods, cooking meals and cleaning. For the internet, the camp participant can use the Al-shmoh Cultural Center connection.
Language: Spoken languages at the camp are Arabic and English
Requirements: Volunteers can bring with them games, ideas, musical instruments, food, anything that can contribute to have fun during free time.
