Storytelling about a Former Airport ( Berlin Tempelhof)
Description: The main focus of the camp will be on the history of the former Tempelhof Airport and the surrounding area of the Tempelhofer Field during the time of National Socialism. In several study-parts you will learn about different periods of the airport's history: the time after the takeover of power of Hitler on January 30th 1933 and the “Columbia-Haus”-Concentration Camp; the construction-period of the airport, with forced labor; parts of the airport as production facility for the armaments industry during the time of the Second World War and at last the time from 1945 until nowadays. The individual workshops will take place on the terrain of the former airport, at the Nazi Forced Labor Documentation Centre and at the Documentation Centre Topography of Terror.
Type of Work: Systematization of findings of archeological excavations from parts of the former barracks and of historical documents AND/ OR interactive interview project with visitors of the place; please note that the exact type of work can be decided on not before May.
Study Theme: The study part will mainly take place on the site of the former airport Tempelhof, as well as in the Documentation Center of Nazi Forced Labor of the Foundation Topography of Terror and will include the history of the former Tempelhof Airport and the memory of Nazi forced labor, starting from the material traces.

Accommodation: In the accommodation 'Jugendbildungsschiff Horst-Günther', in shared rooms on a former ship; common kitchen and self-catering; common room; located in the centre of a huge park you will find numerous of recreational and sporting facilities; there’s no Wifi on the boat
Requirements: Interest in the history of National Socialism; knowledge of German would be good but is not absolutely necessary
