Festival of modern art and urbanism "Construction" (Dnipro)
Description: The aim of the workcamp is to support the org team of the festival Construction and let event happen. “Construction” is a festival of new media and audiovisual art in urban space.The festival combines topics of urban planning, social and cultural development, and creative needs of people living in post-industrial and post-soviet cities. During the festival week, symbolic places and public spaces of Dnipro will host a number of events. Thus, it becomes possible to draw public attention to the outstanding buildings and forgotten spaces of the city, which form its historical and modern image, to renovate their role in the memory and to have a new look at their value. Type of Work: Volunteers will work approximately 5 hours per day, helping to prepare locations and events of the festival. Some work is hard and manual, however tasks are various, for instance helping with the festival pavilions setting, exhibitions installation, places arrangement, cleaning, painting, leaflets and posters distribution, participate in festival gigs etc.
Study Theme: You will observe backstage of the festival and will have a chance to learn how to organise big and small events. All activities during the fest are open for the volunteers, so each of you may choose whatever she/he likes. This year festival will raise the following topics: new technologies, urbanistics, revitalization, work with public space, modern art, experimental music, working with a community.
Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep on the floor in few rooms of art-centre in the very centre of the city. There are 3 toilets, a kitchen and a shower in a place. You need to take sleeping bag, mats are available. Volunteers will cook for themselves.
Language: Language: English, local language — Russian and Ukrainian.
