Cavallerizza Reale: a Festival of arts for social inclusion
Description: The ”Cavallerizza Reale” in Turin is an historical, long time neglected baroque complex part of the royal buildings in the heart of the city, recognized in 1997 as Unesco world heritage. In 2014 a group of citizens occupied it in order to avoid its privatization. The aim was transforming it in an open space for artistic and socio-cultural experimentation. It spontaneously generated an open and self-organized community producing cultural activities with free access and promoting citizens active inclusion in the self-government of public goods. The workcamp is linked to the Festival "TO(rino) BE Different" promoted by the Art and Creativity Movement foreseenig three days of theatre and dance performance, film screening, experiential workshops, on experimental paths of social inclusion.
Type of Work: The main activities in the camp will be: participation in the daily life of the cultural centre, specifically the organization and management of cultural events, taking part to the assemblies, caring of shared spaces, participation to the working groups (mainly the ones about communications and logistics). Volunteers will collaborate in the organization of the Festival "To be different".
Study Theme: The study part will be focused on the participation process in a self-organized community caring about the collective management of common goods: how it works and how it could be strengthened. Volunteers can participate in scheduled activities and workshops of the "To be different" Festival.
