Understanding the challenges of Kalahari Desert Biodiversity in Botswana: Call for participation at Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Central Botswana, Africa
Description: Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) is located around 150km northwest of Gaborone, capital city of the Republic of Botswana. CKGR is one of the largest wildlife management areas in Botswana. Its natural scenery makes a perfect platform whoever wants to have great taste of Botswana landscape and climate diversity. The CKGR has been controversial ground between the government of Botswana and San people, main habitants of the area. The government of Botswana moved the San people out of CKGR to the village of New Xade, just outside the CKGR, where amenities are being provided freely. 20 years after the relocation of the San People from CKGR, there is small section of San people, who are resistant and want the wilderness life in the CKGR. Despite all these conflicts, there is peace.
Type of Work: The volunteers will assist in the maintenance of the footpaths and trails and helping in day to day business maintenance of the park. The volunteers will participate as a team in the whole duration of the camp. Volunteers can share and exchange different cultural forms during the workcamp.
Accommodation: CKGR provides accommodation in camping sites. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring their own tents.
Language: ENGLISH is the medium of communication in work camp. Note: Workcamps are form of cultural exchange as such participants are encouraged to learn each other language Participants who are not good in English are also accepted to participate as BWA encourages non-discrimination.
Requirements: Commitment of volunteers; Project or work camps are not just cheap holidays; hard work and full participation is required. Volunteers should be self driven, adaptable, people oriented and tenacious.
