Track your way - project about migration and refugees ( near Ventimiglia)
Description: The project was conceived to support the French-Italian association “Route de Jerusalem”, which organizes a march of a group of people symbolically crossing the border. The event offers to the people an opportunity to self-educate and to increase the awareness about issues connected to immigration, human right, solidarity, racism and hospitality. SPES association is partner of this project and the workcamp should create the conditions in which arrival in Ventimiglia of the participants obtain the best results. From many years SPES carries on a project of “social farming” involving disadvantaged Italian people, asylum seekers and refugees. Other partnesr taking part into the workcamp activities will be Torri Superiori Ecovillage and the Caritas group of Ventimiglia.
Type of Work: The volunteers will join the farming work of SPES and its gastronomy workshop together with SPES members and guests and, mainly in the last part of the camp, will help the “ecovillaggio” of Torri Superiori, Caritas and othe partners in organizing an event in Ventimiglia linked with the arrival From France of the walkers’ group and which will also involve the migrants. After the end of the camp if some volunteers are interested in taking part in the last part of the march, that will end in Sanremo on July the 27th, they could agree it with Rout de Jerusalem. There will be more activites which are not defined yet due to the political situation and discourse about migration in Italy.
Study Theme: The study part will focuse on three different subjects: occupational inclusion of disadvantaged people (cured by SPES), migrants and asylum seekers in Italy, and Route de Jerusalem history and present-time goals. During the workcamp there will be the webradio workshop in colaboration with the Centro Sereno Regis of Turin, another partner of Trace ta Route/Traccia la Tua Strada project.
Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in tents and use the toilets, showers, veranda and dining-room of the “Casa Famiglia” of Varase. In case of rainy weather they will be able to sleep in the casa-famiglia building.

Approximate Location: The camp will be held in Varase, a small village located 6 km fromthe centre of Ventimiglia (IM).
Notes: In Varase is working a free wifi connection and there is cell reception. From Ventimiglia to Varase there. Varase is connected with the centre of Ventimigalia by a pubblic bus three times a day.
