Remembrance the 1st camp site of SCI BD
Description: Rangabali is the remotest Upazila of southern Bangladesh situated in the coastal belt of Bay of Bengal. This place is historical for Service Civil International (SCI) Bangladesh as the first international long term work camp of the branch was held at Moudubi village after the devastating cyclone of 1965. Besides veteran SCI leaders and volunteers, the camp was attended by renowned SCI local & international volunteers from Japan, Switzerland and Sri Lanka. The camp continued for 3 months and ended with construction of a primary school (first brick build building in the island) Moudubi is the southernmost remotest village . In remembrance of the International work camp SCI BD is going to organize an International work camp in Moudubi in celebration of 60 years of SCI BD
Type of Work: Volunteers will plant Environment friendly tree plantation, school campus cleaning and earth work
Study Theme: Discussions on climate change and environmental impact in the coastal area of Bangladesh. Opportunity to visit indigenous community and learn their life style, fishermen village.
Accommodation: Volunteers will stay at Cyclone Shelter cum School. They will share common bathroom and toilet. Volunteers will be given simple vegetarian/Non-vegetarian food, to cook and manage themselves.
Language: English should be spoken among participants. Local language is Bengali
Requirements: Working shoes, Gloves, Working dress, Sleeping bag, Insect repellent and self medication (if require)
