Olive Harvest. Rooted like an olive tree
Description: The Tent of Nations project seeks to bring people of various cultures together to build bridges of understanding, reconciliation, and peace. The long-term goal of The Tent of Nations is to prepare people to make positive contributions to their future and society through the values of understanding, tolerance, and respectful coexistence. These goals are achieved through education awareness campaigns, youth empowerment, and work camps. The Tent of Nations is located on a piece of land southwest of Bethlehem 10 km away from the city near the village of Nahalin. Since 1991, the land is under threat of confiscation by the Israeli military. We are still in the Israeli courts defending our rights to the land until today – 25 years. Type of Work: The olive harvest camp is provided for both locals and internationals. Campers will sleep at the campsite for ten days. In the morning, they will pick olives and take care of the olive trees on the farm. During some of the afternoons, there will be special programs for site-seeing tours. Throughout the day there will be other fun activities like storytelling, open discussions, games & sports, and evening gatherings around the fire. Volunteers are asked to arrive early on the 23rd of October and leave on the 4th of November after breakfast Useful Guidelines:
Study Theme: Rooted in the ground, like an olive tree
Accommodation: Volunteers who are coming between March and November will be staying in a large well-equipped marquee tent (with paved floors, beds with mattresses).
Language: Arabic, English and German
Requirements: volunteers should be aware of the political and social context. A motivation letter is required
