Music festival Jyva'Zik
Description: “Jyva’Zik festival” is a music festival that mixes retro and contemporary sounds with artists coming from all over Europe. The aim is to encourage open-mindedness, exchanges, and (north-south) cultural meetings. During two days, artists and NGO’s, working for a fairer and better world, will be present for this 10th edition. This event aims to promote, through a convivial atmosphere and world music, values such as human and environmental respect, peace and equality among people. www.jyvazik.be
Type of Work: Volunteers will help to set up and take down the festival facilities (tents, fences, decor, stages…). They will make some of the scenery elements (painting, drawing…) to highlight the theme of the twenties. During the festival, volunteers will have free days to attend the concerts. They will work with local volunteers.
Study Theme: The Jyva’Zik festival is an alternative festival that aims to promote local economy. The organizers will explain their approach at the beginning of the project and you will meet their local partner at the beginning of the project.
Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in tents (in a large heated hangar). Showers and restrooms will be available. It is important to bring warm clothes and warm sleeping bags with you, knowing that the weather can be cold in Belgium at that time of the year!
Requirements: To show a sense of initiative, to be creative and to be open to meet people. As the thematic of the festival is the twenties; don’t hesitate to bring a disguise with you for the days of the festival (20ies-30ies).
Approximate Location: The festival will take place in the Mitrailles Park at Court-Saint-Etienne, near Brussels.
Notes: Not accessible to wheelchairs. Accessible to volunteers from 16 years old (1)
