Sanitation, environmental protection and completion of UPA offices and guesthouse fence
Description: The current UPA structure hosts UPA head office and a Guesthouse for only 15 volunteers. For the past 3 years UPA concentrated on improving the working environment through expansion of the office space. With the completion of the new office block and on shifting the offices, it will now give way to embark on a task to start on major renovations to improve the living conditions of the volunteers. The camp also targets the community where sensitization workshops shall be conducted on thematic issues; that is environment and sanitation. Cleaning and waste management activities with the community members in public places, like markets, streets, etc.
Type of Work: • Mixing sand and cement
• Collecting water
• Laying bricks
• Organizing waste management workshop amongst the community members
• Cleaning days in public places with the community
Accommodation: • Accommodation will be in simple rooms. • Participants will be required to carry their own mats and sleeping bags. • The camp site has simple bathrooms and pit latrines no showers • A simple cooking shelter (Kitchen) • Participants are requested to bring with them mosquito nets.
Language: The people found in central Uganda are multi tribal with the majority population being Baganda. And the major language spoken is Luganda with also a big percentage of people speaking English well.

• Flexible to live/stay in simple life conditions
• Flexible to the taste of local and basic foods
• Ready to work on the projects

Approximate Location: UPA Central Branch is located in Wakiso District at the premises of UPA Head office in Nansana, Ocheng Zone, eight (8) miles Hoima Road not far from Kampala. It is approximately 12 kilometers from Kampala city.
Notes: 250 € for international participants (this includes pick-up from the airport, food and accommodation during the stay in the camp and the on-arrival orientation). It also contributes to the running of the workcamp activities and UPA administration. Note: UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the workcamp but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 28-30 Euros. N.B. For smooth running of the workcamp, volunteers should arrive 1-2 days prior to the start of the workcamp.
